Default Another townhouse basement home theater

My fiance just finished the wallpaper this past weekend. I still have to tweak out the sound and do some wire cleanup, but it's pretty much ready to rock.

Equipment list:
Sony VPL-VW40 SXRD projector
Stewart Studiotek 104" diagonal 16x9 screen (1.3 gain)
3 channel Parasound amp for the mains (225 watts/channel)
2 channel Parasound amp for the surrounds (125 watts/channel)
Onkyo 805 receiver (used strictly as a preamp/processor)
Paradigm powered sub (250 watts)
Vandersteen 2CE mains
Vandersteen VCC center
Vandersteen VSM surrounds
Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray player
Latest Comcast HD DVR
Pronto TSU-9400 remote control

Love the clean look of that rack. How'd you get the custom fit on your components?

Also... you gotta post a pic of your front soundstage/screen! That's teasing without the big payoff!

I realized I forgot the screenwall! I can't seem to get to Photobucket from work (I had these loaded on my PC here). I will update when I get home.

The rack is a Middle Atlantic Slim 5. They have a tool where you enter your components and they make a custom faceplate that covers the front of the shelf, so your components just pop through. There are a couple of blank plates in there as well. I like the clean look too and the pocket door is a great way to hide it.

Thanks, Darwin! I have a friend who's a contractor who did the work. I hooked up the audio and video but he pretty much built the room by himself. I have neither the talent nor the time to tackle that kind of a project. It would be nice if I did, but oh, well....

hey man, nothing wrong with that! Trust me, during the build of my basement, there were times I wished somebody else was doing the job... especially fishing all those wires in the ceiling!

didn't show the "money shot" I want to see the Vandy's

Looks good.... I looked at that wallpaper/border but it wouldn't work for my application since my room is so screwy.

Looks great!

Also, how do you like the TSU-9400 ? I bought the 9600 and sent it back because I didn't think it was very user-friendly (I'm probably just not smart enough to figure out how to use it)

FYI, I added a shot of the front of the room with the Vandy's and the screen to the first post. I didn't have enough space for a false wall and stage so I made do with painting the wall black.

Beta Man, I love the 9400, but this is my second Pronto and the learning curve is definitely steep. It's not for the faint of heart, and gets tweaked by me almost every day (I'm going to fix a couple of macros as soon as I'm done posting this!).

very nice.... I also painted the front wall (and ceiling) black.... I have a very short throw-distance and viewing distance, but it works for me...... I'm sizing up the basement for a possible "Project" but it'd take more monetary effort than I can give it probably....

Love the Vandys very nice.

I really like the "vintage posters" wallpaper border.

Thanks, Dan. That was all my fiance's doing. She's a graphic designer and has the eye for that sort of thing.

Now that you have the front wall up- looks great! I'm almost surprised that's a 104" screen- it almost looks "small" on that wall. Anyway, looks great- I bet it's awesome to watch flicks on.

Thanks, everyone. Just watched THE INCREDIBLE HULK today -- holy crap did that look and sound good!

aramis, the screen is from my old days with a CRT projector. My seating distance is relatively close so it's still a really immersive experience.

Is there a closet, or small room behind where the components go, or is it custom sized for the rack system? I was wondering how hot they get being enclosed like that.

It looks great though, I love the wall paper, and the lighting around the pillar!

There's a small room back there with the hot water heater and furnace. I'll take a pic of the back of the rack sometime to give you an idea. There's plenty of room. I also have a fan hooked up to the Onkyo (which I heard runs hot) that turns on whenever the Onkyo is on.
