Band of Brothers problem - Blu-ray Forum

Hi everybody,

Yesterday I was happy to recieve my Band of Brothers series in Blu Ray, but the joy didn't last so long when I tried to watch it in my laptop. I inserted disk 1 and the DB Rom drive recognized the disk with no problem, I opened HP QuickPlay player, I was only able to watch the FBI warning before the movie and the program just closes, I tried it with PowerDVD 8 and it froze saying that the program found a problem and it needs to close. Searching for an answer, I've read that PowerDVD 7.3 should fix the problem, I installed it, and the problem persists. I did all the updates and what not, finally, I was able to watch only disk 1 out of 6 of Band of Brothers, when I insert other disks, the problems are back. Now, as for the system specifications:

HP Pavilion dv9843cl
4GB RAM
Intel Core Duo T8100 @ 2.10 GHz
250GB in hard disk
Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS 512mb
Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500A ATA Device
Windows Vista 64bit Home Premium

I don't think it's a hardware problem, because I can play my copy of "300" with no problem in any software, the problem is only with Band of Brothers. I don't own a stand-alone player, so I can't test the movie there. Can it be that Band of Brothers is a brand new title and it demands some kind of firmware upgrade? if it's that the case, I don't think so, because I can play disk 1. I hope you guys could help, it's so frustrating that I can't find any help, I really want to watch Band of Brothers,

Hmm it still may need another firmware update. 300 was released a year ago. But you were able to watch 1 disk out of the 6....hmm

Your best bet is to find a standalone and try the disks there. If they don't work, then you can send it back for a new copy.

Otherwise, we can just blame it on the OS. Vista sucks.

i've just watched it with powerdvd 8 and it was fine. i have the lite-on drive and vista 64 enterprise.

I got tired of searching a solution, so I decided to return it and get a new copy, I think there's something wrong with the copy I recieved...well, hopefully.

I had this problem with PowerDVD 8, worked fine in ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre and my PS3 though.
