Compatability of new Blu Ray discs with BDP-S300 - Blu-ray Forum

I tried to play the disc of Day the Earth Stood Still on my Blu Ray player, that I bought in 2007.

It won't get past the load stage. Is it because my player isn't the latest version?

well what version do you have ? I suggest keeping up with update for the time being, especially with Fox titles.

I was looking at the most recent updates. I can't remember if I updated it before or after Halloween.

A friend of mine usually hooks me up with the update. I can't burn DVDs on my PC.

He mentioned before that there's also an option to have the updates mailed to me. Where do I sign up for that?

I guess I'm lucky.

I have a BDPS300 in my living room and a BDPS301 in my bedroom and I have yet to have ANY issues with any of the BD discs.

Currently, my firmware is at version 4.30.

You burn firmware updates to CD, not DVD.

God is correct. Do not use a DVD. Use a CD-R only.

Do not wait for Sony to send you a disc. I bought my S300 back on December 17, 2007 and I'm still waiting on a disc even after sending in the card and requesting one online.

I downloaded the update. I tried to make a CD, but when I try to use the CD I make, the Blu Ray Player says it can't read disc.

What program should I use to make the update CD?

I have a Windows Vista PC.

You may need to get one with XP on it...Nero Express works OK for burning.
