Default UPS for AVR?

I bought a UPS for my Direct TV receiver. I decided to connect my AVR to it, Is there any reason I should not connect the AVR to it? It's a 875VA 525 Watt UPS

Not unless the power capabilities of the UPS are exceeded. I have my entire HT system connected to an APC 1500W UPS. Most HT devices do not need UPS backup power with the exception of DLP TVs, and DirecTV Receivers, however it sure does not hurt to have other devices added to your UPS up to its maximum capability.

I actually have my home theater hooked to two of the APC SmartUPS 1500W UPSes . The power at my home comes and goes, particularly during blizzard, thunderstorms, soemtimes for no particular reason at all, and I really don't trust anything in it not to be on them. I used to have a single smaller (750W) UPS but it didn't take much for it to get overloaded as I added to my theater; and then at one point (when got a more power hungry TV) it became obvious that the one 1500W was not enough to deal with it all, so got another. So everything's on them.

Recently I also got one the these big ones for my computer. The bad news is these particular UPSes now have their fans running all of the time; the good news is the older ones didn't and the newer one's fan is pretty quiet all in all.

But to answer the original poster's question, you may find a 525 Watt UPS to not be enough to handle your receiver, depending on how much power it uses, or you may find it to be just fine. In my case I was playing a DVD-Audio when I realized my old 750W UPS was no longer big enough for my growing system. But it didn't hurt anything to find out that that was the case.
