Default Can I play a Blu-ray movie from PS3 on a non-1080 LCD?

Hi,

If I have the new PS3 60GB which includes a Blu-ray player and a Sony LCD which does not support full HD, I'm getting the KLV-32S200 (32" LCD with HD ready and HDMI input), will I be able to play Blu-ray movies??????

Please advise,

P.S. (I may have posted the same question under the supported 1080 LCDs topic by mistake).

Default Yes

I own a samsung LCD that is native 720p I can play blue ray movies perfectly through my ps3. You should find your TV will support viewing through the ps3 in 1080i.

Video Signal System: NTSC, PAL, Secam
1 Mega Pixel Panel
Display Resolution: 1366 x 768
Native Resolution: 1080i, 720p

Yes you can play Blu-ray movies on it.
Use the 1080i PS3 setting, you'll tv will accomodate that into the 768 x 1366 panel.

Altho, if you could, I always advice trying to look for a true in/out 1080p TV...

Yes, I just found that it supports native 720p and 1080i.

I didn't know I can control it also from the PS3. That should be very useful.

That's wonderful news

Thanks a million!!!!!

Be sure to set your PS3 output to support 1080i or 1080p (if the TV can at least handle the signal) as setting the PS3 to output at 720p downscales Blu-ray output to the 480p SD video track included on the disc.
