Default I want to make a music video...Software Suggestions?

I'm getting married (lol) summer 09...and I want to make a music video of wifey to show at the reception. I'm thinking of using the song Yellow by Coldplay and using clips of her (our engagement, her at the hospital with my daughter, me and her at the beach) that I have recorded over the years. If I did use that song I would want to have effects to make the video actually look good (maybe some yellow effects, and some other neat/cool things).

Windows Movie Maker came on my PC and I use it for youtube videos but it doesn't really have alot of options for editing, special effects, and such. I heard I can download add-ons for Movie Maker but are they free and how good are the add ons?

should I use Windows Movie Maker or go and buy different software? I want to work on this for the next 5-6 months cuz I really want it to look somewhat professional. I also want to do it myself, so im not looking to pay anyone to do it for me. Anyway, are there any good free editing programs out there? Should I just use Movie Maker w/ add ons? What are the best programs out there that I could buy? Any suggestions on how to properly make a music video?

Also, has anyone ever did something like this at a wedding? How much does a large screen cost? How much would it cost to rent a projector for a day?

I'd appreciate any replies......

I've done it for my reception and it really doesn't matter if it's professional looking or not, your audience is either watching or not. So if you put a lot of time on it most won't even notice or care. Make if funny and silly, you get a better reaction from the audience, just my two cents... It's better to rent since unless you have a projector / screen to use.

At our reception (we had it at a Best Western Hotel), they lent us a projector they owned at no charge. Just ask where your reception is, and ask way ahead of time about it if they have one so you know what type of hook-ups you'll need.

And honestly, you won't find anything better than Windows Movie Maker for free... you're gonna have to cough up some dough brutha.

I would HIGHLY suggest for a reasonable price, Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9... 99$, but you'll find it extremely nice for many many many applications. It makes great photo slideshows, it burns to Bluray discs, it'll burn right to a standard DVD also. It's extremely flexible, and almost anything you want to do, you can! At least go to sonymediasoftware.com and download the free 30 day trial!

Unlike many video editors, you can choose from a TON of output formats, resolutions and bitrates. it rocks. You can even do green-screen effects!

I use Sony Vegas Pro 8 (650$), and i believe there is no better video editing software available... Dateline uses it, Nine Inch Nails and Sheryl Crow and Shania Twain use it for their music videos, plus other professionals.
