Default New Panasonic 50" 800" - Scratch On Screen :(

Unboxed my new plasma from Amazon this morning. Boy is it beautiful! I got it mounted and everything. Then noticed 2 scratches in the lower right part of the screen. Appears to be scratches in the coating, but not the glass. Buffing and rubbing does nothing. They are perfectly curved too. Nothing I did.

Ugh. How does Amazon handle these things? Sucker is heavy. I don't see it when on and honestly don't see it when off unless I go up to the screen and look for it. One is 1/4" curved the other is about 2" curved.

Magnificent tv!

well, Id ask myself...is it as bad as it looks? (have any pictures?)

do you risk the long wait for an exchange only to find your next TV has dead pixels? or worse?

I would weight the pros and cons of an exchange first...maybe they can give you a discount and just live with it? But if it bothers you then exchange it.

If they give me a discount, I can live with it. Its not that noticeable at all. It's just you know - a new tv, new tv price - perfect

Never did an exchange for something like this through Amazon so I don't know how it works, nor do I know if there would be a discount given. Let alone what the discount would be.

Tried taking a picture. Near impossible because you have to catch it in the right light.

Probably leaning towards an exchange. Was admiring the excellent picture and then saw this wonderful stuck red pixel near the middle right. Sigh.

All this technology and still imperfections like this.

Amazon got back with me. They said it would be 1 - 2 months for a replacement. I said that was fine. Either that or a 10% refund which equated to $175.00 dollars. Not enough to justify me keeping a damaged tv. At least, that's how I feel.

So, I will be getting a new one whenever they get their stock replenished. Gotta love Amazon.

Because of your experience I asked Amazon about how long it would take to get a replacement should the tv be damaged during shipment.I was told right away.......unless it comes from one of the other stores they represent.Did you get your set from Amazon itself or one of the outlets they have?
