Default Kplisch Synergy "12 Sub - thoughts?

Hey all, I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about getting this, but I was wondering if there was anyone out there that owns or has at least heard this sub... all thoughts are appreciated.

It's OK - not earthshaking bass, but clean at mid-volume. I bought two, to fill a 24'x22' room, and they didn't come close to doing it. I now have them right next to my chair and my wife's chair in the family room, and they're very good in there - but we're practically sitting on top of them.

They have a massive port, which allows the driver to get sloppy at high volume. It helps to have two, you can turn each one of them down. You also have to have a very clean signal - fine with Blu's or clean audio from CD's, but terrible with most HDTV signals and normal TV stereo.

You might want to spend a few more bucks, or go ahead and get it if it's for a small space and you're not trying to bust out the windows or anything.

I have that sub (a year older). It's a nice component. I'd say very good...above average...but not great.

I have the gain set at 12 noon, and the frequency all the way up (150Hz, I think). I have a Pioneer 84TXSi, it controls all the subwoofer output anyway.

Default Get an Outlaw Audio 12" sub

I already have a custom 15" dual voice coil sub powered by a NAD amp bridged mono that I made but added a 12" Outlaw Audio 350 watt powered sub and that is one of the best subs I've heard. I am planning on getting one to two more in the future.

If you set the the sub itself @ 80hz you will get a GREAT improvement.

These subs really bang, I have the hz in the receiver and on the subs set to 80hz. Someone told me to try 80 on the reciever and turn the hz all the way up on the sub. It was terrible and I would have to sit right under it if I kept it like that.

On the reciever I have the db turn down and the bass tone turn down alot because of the power they put out.

Reading your first post have me wondering what are your settings? I do know, as I said, having your Sub with the hz turned all the way up is the wrong setting for these subs.

You can hear them at bestbuy. When I heard it I loved how the bass hit and wanted two of them.

@ that price I'm almost tempted to get two more and save them for my house when I move

I struggled with those things, and had it set at 80 for a long time. I think the filtering on the unit isn't all that precise - so I let everything come through from the receiver, instead of trying to limit it at the sub.

I'll give it another try. The reason I opened it up is that when I did, changing the settings on the receiver was a lot better. The frequency adjustment is really for pass-through setups, I think. But what the heck, I'll try it.

Awesome, it's on the way and should be here by next week!

BTW Hamp, I'm running an elite 94; any suggestions on settings and such? Or just stick with the 80 hz?

I checked BB online the other day and it was listed @ $250. I think Klipsch has put a new line out (i.e. not the Synergy) and are trying to close out those models. That would be my guess. I would definitely get another one if I had a good place to put it, but I don't...

Like I said these subs do bang!!!! The price you are getting them for is fantastic and a much better one then I had when I talk the price down.

It may be best for you to check the 'guide to subwoofer' for the settings.

Not because it's a sub-12, but almost all subs you will have to tweak to have them perfect for your whole area.

What I mean by tweak is the right placement of the sub, db set before the volume is turn up on the receiver, bass tone from the reciever, crossover from the receiver, crossover on the sub and gain on the sub.

But to answer your question directly, Yeah it would seem to stick around the 80hz.

If you have a PS3, you can goto this link and really test your sub out

http://www.stealthsettings.com/woofe...fer-sound-test

I have it posted under another thread called 'Do you wanna give your sub a work-out'
