Default Massive Blu-ray Group Buy Days...

Apparently a bunch of people from PS3Forums.com and the official Playstation message boards are organizing a group buy. Now, I know these things are silly and don't really make a difference on overal monthly sales, but I was thinking since HDDVD fanboys put so much credence in rankings let's show them what real rankings are all about.

More info here, join if you can. I'll get a couple form Amazon on April 21.

You know, there's a way to manipulate the charts without actually buying the movies especially the movies that are up for pre-orders.

All you have to do is pre-order it then cancel it. It's that easy.

There are many people that purchased the PS3 as a game machine only and are playing standard DVD’s in it once and a while. If just 10% of these millions of PS3 owners decided to purchase one or two BLU-RAY movies for the first time then several hundred thousand BLU-RAY discs would be sold.

By the way, one eproductwars stat just came back to Blu-ray: The # of titles in the top 1000 is now 18 for BD and 17 for HD-DVD.

That's a great point. I would also like to add that the rankings are quite psychological. I think it will really mess with their psyche seeing Blu-ray shoot straight back up again and beyond after their little spending spree. That's why I'm going to participate, since I was going to buy the discs anyways so why not do it on that day.

I guess we, as Blu-ray owners, are too complacent. If we fought like the HD DVD people because they are holding on for dear life, we could REALLY make them cry. I don't know about you guys, but I would like to destroy everything they love! j/k But seriously, arrogance and complacency has been the downfall of many great empires. I would not like to be apart of a fallen empire.

Normally, I wouldn't be a part of something like this movie buying rally, but I guess today is a different day. We don't have to buy a ton of titles each (like HD DVD)...just one. I guess I will do this on April 21. It would be greatly appreciated if all Blu-ray owners would join me.

Now if it was the AVSF or this forum, I would say there's no point because we are going to buy what's going to be released anyway.

However, if PS3 sites are getting into the group BUY (and not pre-order) then it could really have an impact. One is the fact that there are more PS3 owners than other stand-alone players. Second and more importantly, some of these PS3 owners have never bought a BD disc before or even played one; by making a purchase now, they could be enticed enough to get more BD discs.

So for the PS3 sites to support this group buy, I say, START CLICKING!

I may order that on Saturday.

Mod: The US Pursuit of Happyness case says REGION A

I'll be ordering Night at the Museum, and The Queen on the 21st. I was planning on picking both of those up locally, but I can wait a few days to get them from Amazon just to get in on the fun

Hey, does anybody know if they will automatically ship those out packed with my Planet Earth pre-order since they release on the same day?

Amazon should or you could specificy that they deliver in one package.

If every PS3 owner in the US buys just one title this week, it will create a HUGE spike.

I'd like to add PS3's in the philly area are moving...

a couple stores I've been following have had up to 7 PS3's for the past month and longer....now they have 2 and 3....each....

the most a store had was 4...

Sears, Best Buy, 2 Circuit City's, EB, Gamestop and uhh Toys R Us are all in my area....the 2 CC's are the furthest just about...but they built a new one over a year ago...

I missed walmart and a few other stores...

I have to say I fail to see the point of stunts like this. If we're all so confident that BD is going to win through (and I am), why subscribe to this kind of tit-for-tat foolery. It's pretty daft to on one hand mock the HD-DVD evangelists for doing this kind of thing and then do exactly the same thing ourselves.

I'll continue to buy BD when the mood takes me and not just to give the Amazon ratings a rigged boost. It's meaningless.

I agree with this....

I'm not going to buy movies beyond the rate I already buy them at...

I pretty much have a weekly set of movies arriving...I had 3 this week and 1 next week..

not because I set aside a "buy date"...because I wanted the movie now..

I have just one question. How can it be meanless if it adds to the total amount of discs sold for Blu-ray?
