Default *CANADA* Cheapest DTS-HD Receiver???

Hi, i'm in Quebec, and right now it's crazy boxing week time, i'm looking to get an audio system, the cheapest DTS-HD receiver i can get. My budget is like 500$ MAX.

Is there anything in that price range available? Or i need to wait a couple of months to get the right system... i don't want to invest in something non-DTS-HD... Or maybe you guys can convince me it's not that great!

THX!!!

Look for open box items at FS/BB. That is how I got my receiver for cheap.

yes, but your ps3 will not bitstream dts mstr to the reciever. it will decode the newer codecs and send them to your receiver as multi channel pcm. all you really need to get these audio streams is a receiver that supports multi channel pcm through hdmi. here are a couple good cheap ones:

if this is confusing to you, i suggest reading the stickies on this forum.

Would this also work?

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...99&catid=19701

It's 299$ at Bestbuy so i can ask Futureshop to reduce to 299 and 10% off
And the speakers/sub are there!

In general, I would stay away from HTIB's like that one. Your better off buying seperate receivers and speakers, and building your audio system gradually. It will pay off ten fold in the long run. The speakers that come with that package are trash.

If your receiver can accept multi-channel PCM signal, you are ok. You can just set your PS3 or Blu-ray player to decode all audio codecs to PCM. If money is a problem, you don't need a fancy receiver. There isn't that much of a difference beween the player or the receiver decoding the HD audio codecs.
