In a previous thread, somebody wrote that they ran their video through HDMI and their audio through optical because they did not have a receiver. They were using a playstation as their Blu ray player. I have sort of the opposite situation. I have the 7.1 receiver, but my TV is six years old, and does not accept HDMI cables. It is an HD TV, but my question is would I see a huge difference with a newer TV that will accept HDMI. The TV I have now has a very nice picture with my Blu ray player. Also I did not know that you could use both HDMI and optical cables. I have the HDMI inputs in my receiver, but I had to use optical for the audio and component for the video because I could not use HDMI with the optical (or so I was told) is this actually the case?
