Default Martial Arts (Shaw Brothers)

Anyone think the Shaw brothers movies will carry over to BD?

Five Deadly Venoms
Return of the five deadly venoms
etc.

It would be awesome! The Celestial remasters were very good, so I have no doubt the PQ would look great on Blu-ray as well.
Definitely not enough good old school kung fu on Blu..

Eight Diagram Pole Fighter, 36th Chamber, Five Venoms, etc..

FYI, here's a cool video on the remastering process that all Shaw films underwent for HD.

UNBELIEVABLE, I never thought I'd see the day. First "Ashes of Time" gets a make over, and becomes a coherent mindblowing movie, now Shaw bros are coming to HD as well.
All I ask for now is 80's Jackie Chan, that's all I ask!

There was a plan to release several more but the company behind these Blu-rays, BCI, has gone out of business. I hope another company picks up where they left off. In fact, these BDs might be out of print as soon as they are released, so anyone that wants them should buy them as soon as possible.

But the good news is that Celestial, the company in Hong Kong that now owns the rights to these films and has remastered them in HD, is Region A for blu-ray. Previously Hong Kong was Region 3 for DVD which made it hard for some of us in North America without region free players to watch their great discs.

Now, if Celestial starts releasing Shaw blu-rays, it shouldn't be a problem since we've been re-aligned to the same region for blu.

I love me some Shaw Brother's films. And the restoration work done by Celestial is amazing - the DVDs look fantastic, so I can't wait to see how the Blu-rays look. The price isn't bad, though, depending on the specs.

Dunno about shaw bros but im waiting for the bruce lee stuff to come out on blu ray! In the u.k there was a re-issue of all the bruce lee films on standard dvd and the company did new HD masters for them, they looked good even on dvd so im hoping that these new masters will be used for a new blu ray release..i think though that the company which bouth the honk kong legends label went bust so i'm not sure..be great though!
