![]() Sony Pictures should do the following ** These are just some suggestions that would improve BLU-RAY movie and player sales. The following is just hypothetical ideas ** May 4th 2007 Spiderman 3 is released in theaters nationwide October 1st 2007 Spiderman 3 is released on BLU-RAY in a Super Bit version. The first BLU-RAY Superbit 50GB MPEG-4/AVC movie utilizing a high bit rate digital transfer process that optimizes video quality with an outstanding PCM sound track. This version would contain no extras, just a 50GB disc filled up with the entire Spiderman 3 movie. November 1st 2007 Spiderman 3 is released on the DVD format. Sony Pictures could easily sale many more BLU-Ray players and movies if select BLU-Ray movies like Spiderman 3 were released on home video 30 days before it arrives on DVD. There are millions of BLU-Ray PS3 devices on the market and more would be sold if consumers could purchase select hit movies 30 days early. |

Or how about:
A 2 disc Spiderman 3 Blu-ray Superbit edition with AVC transfer on 50gb and Dolby True HD 7.1 audio. 2nd disc is chock full of extras in 1080p with multiple BD-J PIP commentary, a BD-J webslinging game, and Blu-wizard enabled supplimentals. A week before Nov 3rd Spidey 3 release, BD-J 1.1 is avaialble for firmware download. Same week, the new Sony BDP-500 goes on sale with Full BD-1.1 specs with True HD and DTS MA decoders. ![]() |

We think its a good idea to boost BD movies & players sales, if they just release movies 3-6 months prior to DVD releases. What do you think ???

First: Use the search function on the forums. I say this because this type of marketing ploy has been discussed extensively.
Second: 3-6 MONTHS!!! Then you'd either be delaying the DVD release or putting out the BD release about the same time as the theatrical release. This is just too long a time to be practical (though it would be cool). Even one month is probably too much of a pipe dream, I think. |
