I have a US PS3, I live in Japan and my Japanese friends keep telling me about the cool demos they get from the JP PS store. Is there a way I can connect the US PS3 to the JP PS store?

Just create a Japanese PSN account. Create a new user at XMB and indicate that you live in Japan. That's it.
