Default Modify tv stand to support additional weight

So during my messy decision, I have yet another dilema.

I have a tv stand which I bought as a temporary stand while I wait for my basement to be finished.

The tv I have is a 56" DLP, weighing in at approx 60 lbs. The spec for the stand says it will hold up to 55" tv OR 100 lbs. It has a tempered glass top. Actually, here is the stand http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1165609791259

The tv I'm looking at is over 100 lbs. 138 lbs to be exact.

Will there be any chance I can modify this to make it stronger to hold the weight? I don't care about looks, as I said, it's temporary. I was thinking putting a piece of wood over the glass, then somehow supporting the wood from bottom to the floor. Anyone ever done anything like this before? Is it a bad move?

I do not want to have to mount the tv temporarily, nor buy another tv stand to hold the weight. I would also hate to not buy the tv because of a temporary issue like not having a stand...uggghhhh..lol
