Total Newb to Audio

Alright, so im pretty handy with all the other home theater aspects, but I have never had a surround sound in my home before.

This is my current setup:

- 50" 1080p Panny Vierra Specs
- PS3: Hooked up with HDMI
- TivoHD: Hooked up with HDMI
- 360: Hooked up with Component
- Wii: Hooked up with Component

Basically I'm looking for a decent surround sound system. Nothing over the top since I don't even have that much room left to work with at this point....

I have no idea what kind of connections I could use to hook everything up, hopefully something that doesnt require too much wiring... I mean would I have to actually connect every piece of equipment I have to the surround sound? or is one wire from the TV to the surround sound box enough?

Please keep in mind that I don't know anything about surround sound, or installing it.

Any help/tips are greatly appreciated. Teach me the ways of awesome surround sound

Everything would connect to your new receiver, then the receiver would feed the TV

my budget would have to be around 300 - 400 bucks...

Like I said I'm not really looking for anything amazing, just something better than the speakers on my plasma

whats the "digital audio out" in the back of my TV for? Is that for setting up surround sound?

my guess, not knowing your TV is that it is a 5.1 feed from OTA signals

For 300-400 this is about the best you can do. If your budget gets bigger let us know we can hook you up.

Alright, so the digital audio output is sending out a 5.1 feed? Would I use a digital output cable to connect from the back of my TV to the receiver; and would that pick-up sounds from all of my inputs?

Is that really as simple as it gets? I wont have to separately connect my ps3, tivo, xbox, and wii to the receiver?

If you don't have a cable box, yeah that's all that you would do for cable/TV feeds. For PS3, Tivo, Xbox and Wii, you'd have to connect their audio to the receiver for best results. (Well, the Wii you could run to the TV if you wanted as it's just RCA anyway).
