Canada Why did we get King Kong so early in Canada?

Just walked into Best Buy today and I found a bunch of copies of King Kong and their not even sitting in the new release aisle, only the regular aisle...hidden away! What in the world is going on? It's even on the website for order too... http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...08&catid=24101

Why did we get King Kong 6 days early here in Canada?

It happens all the time with catalog releases. As long as its not a new day and date release BB puts out their stock when they receive it. I remember getting Sunshine on Blu-ray at BB a week before the official release date.

Oh and its not a Canadian thing.

Both Future Shop & Best Buy do put many titles out early, yes. However, you can rarely get beyond the register with some of these items since their system does not allow DVDs/CDs/Games to leave the store before a release date. The products will scan, but the transaction will lock up.

Fair enough - however, I've never seen a movie available for purchase on the website before the release date...

It hasn't been released! I went to 2 Best Buys and 1 Futureshop and neither had it on the shelves and when I asked they checked their computers and it said it wouldn't be released till Tuesday. Guess you just got lucky. But it certainly has NOT been released.

I checked the BB at Dundas and Bay this morning... nada. I suspect some employees at a few stores mistakenly thought that because it had been previously released on SDVD and HD-DVD, that it was simply a regular stocking title, not realizing it was a first for Blu-Ray with the Tuesday release schedule. I'd bet money on it.

No I didn't pick up a copy, I need to start saving my money, lol. Spent too much on Blu-rays lately and I need to stop for awhile. My most recent purchase was 3 trilogies, Die Hard Collection and BoB's....AND that's it! No more for awhile!
