Default Speaker setting help please

OK I just bought some speakers and I have a problem. I have 4 polk moniter 70's 2 on front and 2 in the back, and I have 2 center speakers polk csi3 and a cs1, my sub woofer is a PSW505. My receiver is a Yamaha 663

First which center should I use? Also what should I have my speakers set at? small or large. should I also have my bass set to both front and sub or just sub?

Thanks

I believe the CS10 or the CS20 match the Monitor/TSi lines. That is what I was looking at today on their website.

The cs1 matches the monitor line, the csi3 s for the the rti line. You could set your speakers to large and see how they sound or set them to small and cross them over at 80 hz and let you sub handle everything under 80. Its all about what you like when you hear it. I also would suggest getting the cs2 for the center if you could sell the cs1 or csi3. The cs2 would timbre match and want be overpowered by your 70's. I just upgrade my cs10 to a cs2 and love it. I have all monitors also.

I would go this route as well. The CS2 perfectly matches your Monitor 70s.

Easy answer is all small and set sub to by pass,Then in your reciever set crossover setting to 80Hz .

This is what iam useing and trust me ive done it all.Large ,small, 40hrz, 60hz, 80hz and back again.
I think this setting could be a great starting point for you

This thread has helped me alot and BigDaddy is all over it check it out

No the cs1 just matches the monitor line. The csi3 is for the higher up rti line for polk. The cs1 will blend better with the monitors is all.

How are you driving them? Unless you're using a big amp/receiver, or multiple amplifiers, it's probably not necessary.

They're set to "small", so they'll inherently be more efficient in getting the signal and the amplification.

Setting the speakers to small and bi-amping accomplish two different things.

Setting the speakers to small restricts low frequencies from going to the speakers and putting too much stress on the woofers and make them sound unpleasant.

The purpose of bi-amping is to send separate power sources to the woofer and the midrange/tweeter to make your speakers sound better and clearer.

The higher the quality of your speakers and amplifiers, the higher will be the benefit from bi-amping.

If your speakers cannot handle low frequencies well and you set them to large and bi-amp them, you are definitely going to put too much stress on the woofers.

Don't be afraid to experiment (large/small, different crossovers, bi-amp) and see which one you like the most. Please keep the volume at a reasonable level. You don't want to damage your hearing or your speakers.

One last question. First I decided not to bi amp them. but I was wondering if I should set the bass to both in my 663 setting? I guess that means that my sub and front speakers do both?

Let the subwoofer take care of the bass.
