Default HDTV on 24 Inch Monitor??

Well, I have decinded against buying a 52 inch HDTV, I will wait for next year when I might get a house. In the meantime I do alot of computer graphics and will need a 24 inch computer LCD monitor (1920x 1200) to do my work. But that does not mean that I can't enjoy HDcable or Blue Ray movies in 1080p.

Anybody watches 1080p movies on 24inch monitors? What diffence would this make since most LCDs aren't even 1080p until you reach 42 (non noticeable at smaller sizes). So I am expecting to be sitting literally 3-4 feet from my monitor to enjoy this experience.

Yes, it's all about the seating distance:

I have a 26'' NEC, and at about 1.5 times picture width I enjoy 'Full HD' with a on my face

Theres a Gateway 24" monitor that does 1080p/i HDMI. I think it doesn't have a HDTV tuner tho.

I have a 22" LG monitor that I sometimes connect my PS3 up to through a HDMI to DVI cable and it is in 1080p but at less than 40" there isn't much of a noticable difference b/w 1080p and 1080i/720p. Just make sure the monitor you get supports HDCP and you can connect your PS3 to it.
