I found out that there is a steelbook edition for the Godfather restoration on DVD, but not on Blu-Ray. Would it be really wrong to load my Blu-ray discs on the Restoration DVD Steelbook case? I think the blue plastic cases are ugly and The Godfather is one of my favorite three trilogies (the other two being Back to the Future 1, 2 and 3 and Star Wars IV, V and VI ) and I want to keep it on a premium package. I know it would have no collectors value, but I would enjoy it.

If you aren't concerned with the fact that DVD steelbook case is larger than most BD cases, (and that fact that you'll probably still have to pay $40 just to get your hands on the steelbook case) I see no problem with it.
If it wasn't for the fact that I DO care about that, I'd probably have done it with my Transformers BD. (But then I'd have nothing to keep my Transformers DVDs in.) |

I'm actually planning to keep the restoration DVDs on the case that came with the pre-Restoration DVDs and I guess I'll just toss the old ones. I also bought the regular VHS version years ago and I have the VHS version of the Godfather saga that came in chronological order and has never been released on DVD or Blu-ray. So $40.00 for a Steelbook case? No big deal. They already have plenty of my money. I don't mind the case being bigger. I'll make it stand out on my rack. I just wonder if the back says something like DVD release or so.

I have The Godfather Restoration SteelBook, and it black on the back with some blood spatter across the bottom, and the spatter gets larger from left to right.
It comes with a booklet just like the blu-ray set. I picked up the Godfather Blu-ray Set today, and I'll probably just display all three editions I have, the original black slipcase, the Copporala Restoration Steelbook, and the Blu-ray Set. I know someone overseas that gets movies in Steelbook form, and swaps out the discs for blus. I don't think he likes the blu cases at all, and will find a dvd steelbook to put his blu-ray discs in. I wish they would have made a blu-ray SteelBook for The Godfather, but I don't know if they could have since it is shorter, and it would have to hold 4 discs. I guess they could have made a duo of blu-ray SteelBooks then. Here are some pics of the front and back of the SteelBook: ![]() ![]() Last edited by mr. b; 02-17-2009 at 05:21 AM. |

Someone was selling empty DVD SteelBook cases on ebay and I was going to do this with a couple BDs (Ratatouille, National Treasure, and Enchanted) but after owning the Target version of Indy 4, I hate the look of having it stand out above the rest... I guess if you place them all the way to the left or right it might not look as bad, but when they're in the middle or spread out among your BDs, it looks terrible...
If you click on my HT Gallery and look at the last picture you'll see what I mean about standing out... |

I have to say my Ratatouille, Cloverfield, M:I:3, POTC3, Terminator TSCC, Incredible Hulk, SATC, Hellboy and Hellboy 2 look fantastic in their Steelbook cases. I have my I Am Legend in the FSdvd Steelbook case and to be quite honest it looks better than the Blu-ray SB. In my humble

I'm glad you're happy with it. I forgot to mention that the red paint in the back of the cover has faceshots from the movie just like the front does. I guess you have already figured that out by now.
I'm tempted to do the same with some blu-rays I have, but I'm too anal and can't really bring myself to do it. Most of the dvd sbs have something on them that will identify it as a dvd case besides just the size of the case. The Godfather might be one that I would seriously consider, but I like that all the blus I have are the same height. If I was going to be displaying it separately like you are doing, then I'd probably do it. Then again, I'd probably display the DVD SteelBook, the Blu-ray Set with the Slipcover, the original black box dvd set, and the quote book I got from Best Buy with the blu-ray purchase. |

I might eventually join you with the hybrid one day. I just have to bring myself to sell off or give away my dvd versions. |

I just got the Amazon.co.uk steelbook and realize it looks different compared to the FYE steelbook cover. There are no face shots of the characters on the blood splayyer. The texture of the steelbook doesnt feel that good. I sitll prefer the Region A blu ray and its cardboard slipcover. Kinda regret getting the UK steelbook. Shouldve spent a bit more on the FYE one from those ebay people.
