Default (Likely) No More Fantastic Four

Reported over at CinemaBlend:

Quote:
The guys at JoBlo caught up with the former Human Torch out promoting his new, darker, more realistic superhero flick Push and asked him where Fantastic Four 3 stood. Evans response was, “I think they're done. They've closed the book on that franchise. I think if there was talk I think that I would've heard about it by now.”

Yep, he probably would have. The last movie, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer came out in 2007. If Evans hasn’t heard even a whisper about another one, then odds are the Fantastic Four’s run is two and done. Say goodbye to superhero fun.
I, for one, say farewell and good riddance. I enjoyed the 1st and 2nd as pure entertainment, but I don't think they warranted another follow up.

Agreed, another comic book franchise ruined by Hollywood.

I think the FF are a franchise rich with opportunity that fell short on execution. Galactus as a gigantic mist? Come on.... I liked the films but only casually. If Marvel studios can get their rights back from 20th Century Fox and be the creative lead on the project, we could get a good re-tooling like they did with Hulk.

the key word here is good. the re-tooling of hulk wasn't really a success. i think that fantastic four should be left as it is. besides we don't know how good marvel is at making their own movies. so fart we've only got two. one was an absolute home run in the top 3 movies of last year. the other was a bunt at best it seems.

thank you! Those movies were horrible. but I do wish they would start the franchise over with a different director and different actor/actresses. But give it some time for these to be forgotten.

Just too bad we have to wait forever for the rights to revert back.

That is disappointing, I really enjoyed both F4s and while of course they don't compare to TDK or the Spider-man series, as the OP said, they are pure entertainment which is a good thing in my book

Too bad to see this franchise die because if Alba was just re-casted and Elizabeth Banks took over, the third could have been Fantastic. (pardon the pun )

That is very disappointing news. While the FF movies were not masterpieces, they were okay popcorn movies. I think a great movie could be made with the rich history of the Fantastic Four, but I am not sure it will ever get made in the current environment where it would be expected to be a blockbuster.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of the Fantastic Four. ROTSS may not have been as strong as the first one, but it was still enjoyable to watch.

I would prefer to see more of this kind of movies than a lot of the horror reharsh that we keep getting from Hollywood every year.

The best part of F4 was Julian McMahon as Dr. Doom.

The only good thing about either of the FF movies was Chiklis as Grimm. The rest of the casting was so wretchedly awful the movies were unwatchable. I used to be a big FF fan in my younger days. They'll need a complete reboot ala The Dark Knight to revive this moribund franchise.

This news makes me do a happy dance. The only good that ever came out of the series was getting Alba to undress.

I don't see anything wrong with that.
