Default Will Bi-Wiring lower the impedance of my speaker?

If so, can someone give me some info on this? I have Paradigm Monitor 11's and an Onkyo 805 at the moment. Thinking of upgrading to a Emotiva XPA-3. My local HT guy said bi-wiring (not bi amping) would lower the impedance of the speaker and thus hurt my receiver if its not able to handle the load.

Bi-wiring will not blow up your receiver. All of my speakers are 6 ohm with the fronts bi-amped, center and surrounds bi-wired (meh I had wire laying around) and I have had no issues what so ever.

Edit> Just to be perfectly clear, bi-wiring does not change speaker impedance enough to do damage.

I second this, I biwired my front speakers for years before stopping from embarrassment at how bloody nerdy it was.

Zero issues.

If that were true then I believe that speaker manufacturers would would pretty much be forced to publish that spec in their documentation. (the potential liability would be far too great). I've never seen such a thing, so I would tend to believe that your local HT guy is on something.
