Does anyone else here feel the same way about HD-DVD?
Like when you see it, the mere logo, it fills you with disgust.. You realize how far media has come with the DVD over outdated formats like VHS and then discover Blu-Ray, and realize how far BD has come Then to see HD-DVD, it is just like HD-DVD, as a format, just sets us back completely... I see Blu-Ray as taking into the future but HD-DVD keeping us in the dark ages. |

My sentiments exactly. Every time I see a trailer for a new movie, I look to see who is distributing it, and if it's Universal or Weinstein, the chances of my seeing it go almost to 0.
I only wish I could have been in one of the sold out Spidey showings where they showed the Matrix commercial. I would have heckled so much, I might have willingly been thrown out. And it would most definitely have been worth it. |

HD-DVD doesn't keep us in the dark ages, but it doesn't take us into the next gen like we should be. Blu-ray is the format that does that. If HD-DVD were the lone format, I would buy it, but BD is so far superior. I mean, w/ HD-DVD we still get HD movies, but not at their fullest capacity.
I agree 90%. HD-DVD doesn't keep us in the Dark Ages, but it doesn't bring us fully into the (blue) light, either. |

nhaase ,I agree ,competition is the driving force behind what pushes us to excel ,if there were no drive to go any further who knows ,what if no blue laser was made to encode and read information, then we would probably be (ugh dare I say it )hddvd owners .Its the force that binds us to further push the status quo ,think about it proper tech management ,vhs, beta, laser disc ,dvd, hddvd,BD,the progression to further technology ,faster frame rates ,hddvd has it`s place as a stepping stone to the next level.
blu-ray.....welcome to the next level... ![]() |

If BD doesn't take off now and HD-DVD were to win...we'd just end up seeing BD as the following format...if not something similar...
why not take the next step now instead of waiting?...the price will drop drastically between now and this time next year....DVD was even outrageous in price when it first came out... |
