Exclamation Cleaning the screen on a LN-46A650!

Ok, here is my problem. I had a smudge in the lower right hand corner of the screen. I have had the Monster Screen Clean since my DLP TV, but never really had to use it. I figured since I had it on hand and it was rated for LCD and Plasma TV's I would give it a go.

Well it literally ruined my screen. It made it really cloudy and streaky. I am frantically trying to clean the streaks off. Beside the water and micro-fiber routine. That kind of works but it still leaves a film on the screen.

Any one have a really good idea to clean this type of screen?!

Thanks, in advace for all the help!

Default OptiMist

I like to use a product named OptiMist. It cleans up the gunk form the Monster cleaner. I can't think of the name of the site where I bought it but if you google OptiMist I'm sure you'll score. Check it out.

No, I wasn't using distilled. I have some handy though. I was how ever using filtered water, to get the minerals and such out of the water.

I am googling the Optimist now...

Believe it or not I've heard Radio Shack makes a good cleaner but I haven't tried it.

You mean this one?

You wouldn't think it would be any different than the Monster brand one. I just can't believe how bad that Monster brand made it so hazey and smeary. And worst of all, really cloudy!

The OptiMist has pretty good reviews on CNET... I might have to order that too. I might try the one from Radio Shack as well, since we have a couple of those stores near by. I hope something works, and am willing to spend as much as possible to get my nice clear screen back!

I had the same trouble with the Monster cleaner. With the OptiMist I spray a little on a microfiber cloth and it works for me. I have no experience with the Radio Shack cleaner. Maybe someone else out there does.

Well, I just ordered some of the OptiMist before. So I will be giving that a try once it gets here. But I think I am going to run to Radio Shack as well and try theirs too. I mean, it looks beautiful if the blinds are closed or at night with the lights on. You would think it looked perfect! But once you open the blinds during the day while the sun is shinning through the room. That's all you can notice while the TV is off, is all the smears and blotchy cloudiness. Cause once you know it is there.... It just bugs me knowing the screen is all smeary and cloudy. And what even sucks more, is the TV is only 3 weeks old! I will post the results of the Radio Shack brand when I try it over lunch today...

Well, I think I have my problem taken care of. Or at least for now. I noticed that if I take a rag and ever so lightly touch the screen the smearing would come off. So I took the rag, that came with the TV. And I wiped it over the entire TV for at least 30 minutes. Making a circular motion, and hardly making any contact with the screen. I was making circular motions because, every time I would change directions it would leave a streak/smear where the rag would stop and go the other way. So I made circular motions and never stopping the rag. And it seemed to do the trick, or at least it looked really good with the light conditions I had before. The sun wasn't shinning directly onto the entire TV but where it was, it seemed to be fine. The corners on the other hand are a pain to get perfect...

So I think the problem might have been, that with our low humidity and sub-freezing temps, the Monster cleaner just might have been drying too fast. And leaving a smear/streak on the screen.

But allowing the TV to dry completely over night and then taking a dry Micro-fiber rag and wiping it again. Seemed to help...
