Default Audyssey MultiEQ or MCACC 9 Band EQ

Which multiband EQ is better and why, Audyssey MultiEQ (Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha) or MCACC 9 Band EQ (Pioneer)?

You probably need to add a "they sound similar" to the poll.

I have used both. My last processor (still used my 4 Parasound amps) was a Pioneer 84txsi. Which was a great piece of equipment. My current Audyssey equipped Integra 9.8 sounds better IMHO. I would think it is because of the deletion of a power amplifier, balanced interconnects and overall better quality of components than the difference between Audyssey and MCACC.

I wouldn't worry about it. No big deal. We might not see a ton of people that have actually heard both anyway.

Having used both, I like the extra processing that MCACC does over Audyssey, at least when compared from a Marantz 7002 and a Pio Elite 03. The 7002 did not do any Reverb/Phase calculations, and certainly not to the extent that the Pioneer did.

Whether or not the sound difference was the receiver or the calculations, I'll never know, but I loved the Pioneer so much more over the Marantz.
