Default Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition: was it a SteelBook™?

The Superman DVD set that came in a fairly hefty metal box was not a Steelbook per se, but could it be considered an ancestor? I was planning to replace some of the movie DVDs with Blu-rays and leave the extras and Superman III and IV as is. Opinions?

It is metal. Of course I bought it the first day it came out. Did you get a replacement from Warner for Superman 3? They included the wrong version when they first issued the set.
