HMV's prices are absolutely ridiculous, so I haven't bought any from them, though I think it's good for the Blu-ray format that they're promoting awareness of Blu-ray so much more strongly than hd-dvd.

I've bought a few discs from blockbuster, as their prices are similar to online retailers. I've also bought online from play.com and dvd.co.uk. I'm actually intentionally spreading my purchases around a bit when the prices are similar, just to give support to multiple retailers selling Blu-ray.

In-store prices are ridiculous - £45 for the Mission Impossible box set??? WTF??

I buy from Play.com and ChoicesUK. £17.99 is around what I'd expect to pay for a new release of a newer blockbuster movie. Nothing more.

That was the price-point with Play.com when DVDs came out back in the day.

i buy from Amzon.com as the exchange rate is so good at the moment. you can get movies that are on offer for $20 which is £13 shipped! just check if the movie you want is region coded first... and they take about 2 weeks to come.

Personally I prefer not to import, because non-UK versions haven't been BBFC certified so can't legally be sold in the UK, meaning you can't sell the discs later on if you want to. Okay, you can probably get away with selling them on ebay, but high street stores like blockbuster that sell used discs can't take them.

(BTW, I'm not suggesting it's illegal to buy these discs from amazon.com, I think doing so is classed as personal importation, and it's legal to obtain non-BBFC-certified discs this way)

Amazon, HMV online. A lot of the Blu-ray films are region free so Amazon.com is good too, especially as if a UK user logs on the website automatically adds international shipping options (three of them) to the checkout.

I've bought one from HMV in Kingston and it was a lot of money, but it was nice nonetheless.

Also there's a couple of ebay sellers doing Blu-ray.

Btw, on Amazon.co.uk, check out a seller called 'planvaleservices'. He sells region B releases and region A releases that are guaranteed to play on a UK BD player.
