Default Toshiba 65" 1080p DLP

My parents bought one last year and I think we are having some issues or just now noticing it. But it's starting to flicker when you first start it up, for like the first 5-10 mins. Then it goes back to normal, solid. By flicker, I mean get a little dark, then bright. It does this in all input modes, no matter what the source is. Is this normal for the DLP, that where just now noticing it or is it going to crawl up and die? We have the extended warranty, so we are good.

Oddly, they are sending out a new lamp. That should fix the problem they say, I have a feeling it's a board. Since it does not loose color, it just gets darker then brighter? Still on the phone with him, lol.

It could be the bulb. Your explanation is perfect for a bulb. The bulb just controls the back light of the tv. The color wheel is what makes the color. So if the lamp is getting weak it is possible. The lamp is also the easiest thing to replace and takes the least amount of time to use as a troubleshooting tool.

Ahh, I see. I am just now learning these things. I know a bit about DLP. But I can tell you about Plasma and LCD, lol. Good to know... So DLP has a lamp, guessing white. With a color wheel, the sits in front of the light. What colors are on the color wheel? How about on the LED DLP's?
