Default what is the best blu ray home theater for these applications?

hi

recently i was looking for a good blu ray home theater for my LCD sony 40w400a

i want to hock this blu ray home theater to

No need to hook your laptop up to your tv/receiver through HDMI. Use the PS3 as a media hub through http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/

Yes the PS3 will be the same as having a standalone player. The PS3 is probably one of the best players on the market because it is almost future proof.

I thought most new stand alone blu ray players are future proof since they have the ethernet cable in the back like the bds 550 thats almost 130.00 cheaper then the ps3. or the panasonic thats 150 cheaper?

Yep, I can't see why that would be a problem. I personally think using you're laptop will look better as you have more control over image quality (at least from my experience).

PS3 is future proof in the sense that if they ever go to the next profiles you don't need to buy a brand new player. While most standalones dont have enough hardware power to upgrade to these profiles.
