Default The Waterboy / Adam Sandler - Why ?

I am 15 minutes into The Waterboy and my god, how BAD is this film?

This does not bode well for Mr Sandler, the only other film I have seen of his is Little Nicky.

Does anyone have a good word for this film before I switch channels and avoid Mr Sandler for ever?

.

You may get a few laughs if you finish the rest.... keyword MAY. You should watch the Wedding Singer. That is his best movie..... in my opinion.

Adam Sandler and friends make movies that are supposed to be stupid and light-hearted...that is the whole point...everyone thinks parts of all of his films are stupid...its all about fun laughs..

go watch Zohan..you'll see what I mean..

I love The Waterboy, although I was only 16 when it came out so I suppose I was in the target age bracket. I really liked all his early movies, not so much his recent movies.

I love Adam Sandler. Can't say I liked his Zohan movie much though. Waterboy was a decent movie. Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Mr. Deeds, The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, The Longest Yard... he's been in a LOT of decent movies.

My favorite ones by him are Big Daddy, Bulletproof & Click.

Big Daddy and Bulletproof take themselves more seriously so you may like them better.

Much funnier comment than anything I have heard in the film, well actually on reflection, no it's not.

Just like many here, there are 100's of films I have never seen (it just happens to be on TV tonight, so I thought I would watch it). Films with a sports theme I don't tend to watch, and this is one is not making me change that decision.

I think you are right, I will try and watch The Wedding Singer for a more balanced view of Mr Sandlers work.

I think this movie is one of his funniest ones. Although it is completely stupid.

I noticed you are from the UK. Alot of times comedies do not translate from one country to another due to cultural differences. What people in 1 country find funny doesn't have any revelance or funniness in other countries.

If you ever look at a listing of top money maker movies worldwide you will see there isn't really any comedies that make the list as the jokes or situtations don't have revelance in other countries.

although i do agree, alot of his movies are hit or miss. You either like them or you don't.

Ah yes, I had forgotten about Zohan. I have seen that film. Was OK, funny in places, but ultimately not one I would like to watch again.

I did not realise how many films he had made, Although I have heard of one or two but not watched.
