Adam Sandler v. Jim Carrey - Blu-ray Forum

I watched Yes Man last night, it had its moments where I thought it was less a Carrey movie than a Sandler one. So for fun who do you THINK is the funnier man?

They both do over-the-top but I think Sandler is a little funnier. Carrey is a much more complete actor, proven by Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

I disagree...

Sandler is fabulous in punch-drunk love, and I can never seem to get past how fake Jim Carrey's 'movie smile' is. But they are both uniqely talented where most others aren't...

Jim Carrey was in Dumb and Dumber, so he wins.

Other than that, they're fairly even to me, if you are only counting the comedy movies. I can watch Ace Ventura (the first one), The Mask, The Wedding Singer and Big Daddy over and over.

I find Sandler terribly unfunny. Early Jim Carrey is where it's at.

adam sandler when i was 16, jim carrey now

hes just got more acting talent than adam sandler in my opinion, but it does seem that sandler is trying the same career path that carrey did, moving into more serious roles

I like both but i like Adam Sandler way more, i havent seen an Adma Sandler movie that i didnt like and Jim Carrey has Me, Myself, & Irene under his belt but his latest movie Yes Man to me was a rip off of an older movie Liar Liar which is basically the same concept

Did you see Spanglish? Sandler did a good job as a fairly (mostly) straight character. Its a cute kinda warm flick too.

For me, it's Carrey. I have liked the majority of his movies. Sandler has done some pretty good ones too though.

if we're talking in film, I have to go with Carrey. I'm not a huge fan but I think Ace Ventura is a fantastic comedy, underrated even, and between Eternal Sunshine, Man On The Moon, and The Truman Show I am confident in saying he has more acting chops than Sandler.

if we expand though, I do like Adam Sandler's comedy albums

. still, probably not enough to say I like him more than Carrey.

edit - hrm, just saw that it says "who is funnier"... I have to vote Sandler then. he hasn't done anything in a while that I've enjoyed but happy gilmore and billy madison go a long way compared to ace ventura and maybe the mask (haven't seen it in years). plus the albums I mentioned above...

Whoops, voted for Jim Carrey by mistake, LOL. Anyway I definitely prefer Adam Sandler by far. My all time favorite comedian in fact. Plus he's always come across as just a cool person in general.

For me it's no contest. Carrey by a landslide. His work on In Living Color outshines Sandler's whole career. Not to mention Ace Ventura, The Mask, The Cable Guy, Liar Liar, The Truman Show, etc. All instant classics. A lot of his routines remind me of the good old days with pratfalls and intense physical comedy.

This is hard because both of them are two of my favourites but if in the end, I guess my pick goes to the Sandman just because Billy Madison was a movie I saw probably over 100 times when I was a kid and i still love it today.

However, this is a poll I would change my mind on constantly.

Plus both these guys have at least 4 movies each in my top 100. (Carrey: The Mask, Dumb & Dumber, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Sandler: Billy Madison, Reign Over Me, Happy Gilmore, Little Nicky.)

Jim Carrey is the shizz. Adam Sandler, although I find him funny at times, is all poop jokes.
