Default PS3 Question - Deleting Game Files

If I need to make room on my PS3 in the future, and I delete say the 5.1 gb of MGS4 data in my "Game Data Utility" folder, will that mess up my saved games at all? Or is that strictly in the "Saved Data Utility" folder?

Thanks!

Your Saved Games is strictly in your Saved Data Utility folder. Your Game Data Utility folder if just for game installs and other information like DLC.

So I'd have to redownload DLC if I ever deleted something?

Depending on the game, yes. I know that Dead Space wouldn't allow me to play my Saved Game until I redownloaded those suits that I originally did and use in the game. However, its not the case with every game. If you need to redownload it, just do it through the PSN store.

same goes for game updates... for some reason when I upgraded my hard drive, I had to delete my game updates and re-download/install them.

Yeah, its grouped together in the Game Data as well. Though unlike Saved Game files, its all easily replaceable.

Actually thank you! You reminded me to add this very question to my new guide.

Also as we speak I'm uploading my video onto Youtube with showing exactly how the disc drive works in your PS3!
