Will there ever be one?
Most PS3 owners are of adult age and I think the industry could put out a AO rated game. I mean you can see more in a rated R movie than you can in a video game and that's still because people think video games are for kids/teens. Well I'm and adult and a gamer and I want more mature stories and more mature content. I know certain retailers said they would not stock a game if it were rated AO well screw them. I want more mature games. |

What's interesting is it wasn't "that long ago" [it makes me feel old to realize this
![]() Alas, now we are in the age of "Rated M for Marketing". Although, I don't really see the retailers changing so much in that regards [as a sidenote, Hastings is one of the few chains that doesn't care if a title is AO]. |

I seriously doubt it, it's hard enough to get through SCEA when submitting a normal game (i.e. E, T,), but an A.O. title would be scrutinized to the point that SCEA would never let it pass. I remember when I worked at EA, some of SCEA's standards are so ridiculous that games were getting bounced for some of the most asinine reasons.

Well, Sega used to allow pornographic dating sims on the Saturn and Dreamcast in Japan, naturally none of them ever came out here. I think the console makers are just following Nintendo's lead in trying to appear to be as kid-friendly as possible so parents aren't afraid of picking one up for their kids. I'm not sure that even the PS3 has a majority adult market share.
Btw, MS started out the 360 marketing in Japan by pandering to the otaku market with more risque titles (Kotaku delighted in covering MS's early marketing in Japan). Yes, Idolmaster counts. There's even a cleaned up hentai game that came out for the PS3 first, Record of Agarast War, that was slightly naughtier in the 360 port. And for the record, some of those hentai dating sims were still considered fairly good games even after they were cleaned up for release on the PS2. I'd love to play Air some day, what I've seen of the anime is incredible. |
