Well i finally bought my own place, set to move in on 5/1/09! It's a newly renovated condo, and i've got the go ahead from the fiance to get another HDTV!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() I've always said my next set is going to be the Panasonic Plasma, and it damn well will be! I'm just looking for the best price, obviously. Time is not a real big factor, as i have about 2.5 months until i will actually need it. Furthermore, 1080P is not important to me. It's not worth the extra couple hundred bucks to me, so i will be getting a 720P model. I remember around black Friday seeing 6ave running a deal for like $600ish for the 42" model. Right now here are the best prices i am finding.. 42PX80U- $850 through Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Vier...4823292&sr=8-1 50PX80U- $900+tax through Fry's electronics, free in store pickup http://shop2.frys.com/product/5525500 Are there any better deals to be had? These were the 2 best prices i could find right now... Last edited by PS3+HDDVD OWNER; 02-16-2009 at 09:30 PM. |

I have 20/15...just could not stand the blurry image. It got less blurry the further I walked away. Being at 8 feet was horrendous so I would suggest the smaller set. If the 720p set was alone probably would have looked great to me. But putting a Lexus next to a Pontiac, just does not compare. To be honest I never put much hype into the 720 vs 1080 either, until I let me eyes decide. I have read the articles but I think the person that wrote them did not have the same vision I did. You won't get a decent 1080p for $600 and if that is what you want to spend I wish you the best of luck. Also check out 6ave.com...you will get a WAY better deal. I believe the 42 you list is $200 less then what BB has it for. The 50" is about the same price as what you list. |

It looks grainy and blurry to me. Both were playing the same program and both were 50 inch ones. I am a bit "anal" about my eyesight. It is all I have. When it goes it goes...so I am careful about the monitors I own too for my PC. My parents TV, 720p looks blurry and horrible when I got over there and watched it on a direct TV. |

how the hell can u see a difference between 720p and 1080p at FIFTEEN feet? u cant even notice a difference at 7ft unless u are like using binoculars, i have great eyes and cannot notice a difference, maybe u can see super slow mo or something or u saw a really crappy set, but at 7ft u literally ahve to SEARCH for the differences between 1080p and 720p. so u my friend are either 1) a rare case of insanely good vision 2) saw bad unit of the 720P i read an article i think from cnet which they did reviews of like 9 1080P DLP sets vs 1 768P Pioneer Plasma and the 768P was in 2nd place based on performance and PQ. |

YOU GUYS ARE KILLING ME!!!
![]() Lets not turn this thread into yet another 1080P vs 720P debate. I've stated that i will not be investing in a 1080P set, as i believe the 720P Panasonic is more than enough tv for me! All i'm asking is where to get the best price on the 42" and 50" 720P Panasonic Plasmas. I know CrackinHeds usually has a coupon code or two up his sleeve. ![]() |

...I think your problem was trying to compare tv's in store. Lord knows how the display settings were set. Or even what kind of connection was being used. |

1) I am not stating 1080p is better then 720p. That debate is simple, no reason to bring it up.
2) USE YOUR EYES to determine which you want not anyones opinion. To me it is almost silly to ask anyone here. All of us have our opinions. You want a 720p go buy one. My eyes are not your, nor anyone elses. You may like the look of the 46 over the 50. Size does not always matter quality and clarity do. |

just posted a thread that the 09 pannys are now for sale at bestbuy.com. I am liking the price of the 42" with 30,000:1 and 600Hz for only $900
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218061795104 This about what the '08 models are going for for the 720p. I wanted the 42" 08 model in 1080p, but am now really tempted. Gonna check to see if this is instore. Anyone have any coupons for bestbuy?? |

720p looks very nice and something to consider is the size. You can spend $799 to $1299 and get several great 720p front projectors and then have a 110" plus screen!
http://www.projectorcentral.com/Mitsubishi-HC1600.htm $799 http://www.projectorcentral.com/Sanyo-PLV-Z60.htm $995 http://www.projectorcentral.com/Epso...Cinema_720.htm $1299 I would rather have any of these three front projectos versus any TV. You can get manual pull down or fixed screens cheap online or even consider a used screen to save money and stay in your budget. ![]() |
