Default AT&T Uverse

Anybody else ticked that uverse keeps taking away hd channels to add to their premium teir? Upside I guess is they are adding 3 new HD channels(G4, E!, and Style), but how long before they take away anouther channel!

How is their service overall? They have been putting the hard sell on me the last couple of weeks. I've been offered all kinds of freebies to leave Comcast. Really has me thinking.

Overall, service is great, love the look of the HD, the total home dvr(being able to record 4 shows at once) is amazing. Besides them taking away 3 HD channels to add to their premium tier, I have no complaints and would highly recomend it. Also if you do decide to go with AT&T, clear a whole day, b/c install could take up to 8HRS

If you want blu ray quality, you're looking in the wrong place. Highly compressed and pixelated, but not more so than Charter CATV in my area. On the plus side, HBO Cinemax, Starz and Showtime each have something like 5 HD channels. If you have more than two TV's, you can only have two in HD at the same time (or if you're recording in HD, you can only have one other in HD). This is due to their streaming setup and bandwidth issues as they only have fiber to the node and not fiber to the premises as FiOS has. Audio is in DD, nothing higher, so it is matrixed and there's no dts. Cost wise, you get more HD channels than other providers for about the same price. So overall it's not thrilling, but nice.

I already subscribe to the HD premium tier, so moving some channels to that tier didn't really effect me.

I just got done ranting about how much I hate every single thing about AT&T's "U-verse". Internet is slower, HD extremely glitchy, terrible connection. It might be my circumstances (i.e. more than 2 HDTV's and 7 total), but I haven't been more unhappy with any total home package.

Which internet package did you sign up for with U-verse? I got talked into it and installation is next Friday. I'm most interested in the 18 Mbps that I signed up for. I'm probably going to cancel the TV part almost immediately.

I have 6 months to evaluate the whole thing though.
