The wall mount doesn't get here till late March, so I'm trying to see if there's a safe way to raise it up till then.
I have a cedar chest that's almost as wide as the TV is. I've considered leaning in against the wall. I also have a couple of heavy L-shaped metal plates and some wooden planks leftover from a shelf I built. I thought about wrapping the metal plats in towels and using the planks to reinforce the weight and bracing the front side of the TV with them. But I would like to see if there is a danger in doing this. Any knowledge would be appreciated. |

I would not put any pressure on the front of the TV. I don't know if I would chance it.
Where is the mount coming from that is taking so long? Is it being custom made for you? You could always look at getting two metal rods and mounting them to a wood platform. The two metal rods could then slip into the holes used for the official stand. I just would not sleep well at night in any situation with a TV that beautiful and the chance that it could fall. If no safe solution is foung I will indeed just wait for it. The mount is coming from Best Buy and will probly arrive before then, but my appointment for the work is set for March 20. Although: one of my friends was saying that we could do it ourselves. I'm a think that one over.
The idea I mentioned would involve the TV leaning back against the wall with something else bracing the bottom-front to keep it from sliding. As mentioned, not doing it if there's a danger. Currently it's leaning up against that same cedar chest; does not appear to be sliding on the carpet. The box and all the packing material are in a storage shed.
