Default Leave [insert Movie Title] Alone!!!

I can't believe I just made a Chris Crocker referencing title, but I did, so oh well.

I was recently clicking around HighDefDigest, and came across their review for Crash, which they gave a 2/5, including a 1.5/5 for "The Movie Itself". That puts it on par with other hits like Starship Troopers 3, Scooby-Doo, and Prom Night, but behind such classics as Step Up 2, xXx, and Daddy Day Care.

Now, I don't think Crash is the greatest movie ever, or worthy of the Best Picture Oscar, but I get a bit annoyed by people's negative overreaction.

Was it too heavy-handed? Sure, I guess.

Was it the Best Picture of 2005? Probably not.

Was it a crappy movie? Not at all.

So what other movies out there do you think are commonly bashed, because it's apparently cool to dislike them?

Or maybe... *GASP* people have different tastes. And not everyone is going to like the same movies.

Quick follow-up. I noticed the review for Crash was written by Peter M. Bracke. I'm not sure what his problem is, but maybe he just likes being a contrarian.

Some of his other ratings (all for "The Movie Itself"):

King Kong: 1.5 stars
Reservoir Dogs: 1 star

Wild Hogs: 2.5 stars
Blades of Glory: 3.5 stars

Wow, thanks teacher. You have enlightened me as you seem to do to a lot of people in other threads.

I'm not saying everyone should say Crash is the greatest movie of all time, but seriously, a 3/10? Let's be honest, it's at least a 4.

He gave Wild Hogs a higher rating that Reservoir Dogs?

That pretty much invalidates anything he has to say and should spend his entire next paycheck on seeing an optometrist.

Ok, so because you liked it enough to say it's a 4, that means everyone should also?

That movie is in a genre that is outside my normal viewing.
For it to achieve any rating by me would be extrordinary - I have no plans to ever watch it.

With the knowledge that I will never watch it, what rating do you think it has a possibility to achieve from me.

Brokeback Mountain. A lot of straight guys think it's cool to bash this movie even though they have never seen it because it's a love story between 2 men. There is only 2 scene's in the movie where Ledger and Gyllenhaal kiss and no sex what so ever. In fact I think most of the same guys could appreciate it if they would watch it just for the fact they get to see Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway topless.

Thats what im saying exactly... how some dislike Transformers.. I laughed more in that movie than any Will Ferral, Adam Sandler, or Judd Apatow films
Plus Explosions, action, and Megan Fox..its a excellent film, but of course
thats only my opinion..
We all got our opinions..
I would rate it a 5/5, where you may rate it a 2/5
People just think differently
The Island was another favorite of mine too

I never watched because of the two men love story, until Heath passed..
I then wanted to check it out..
It thought it was a great movie..good story
But i get laughed at now for watching it by people havent and will probably never cause of it's premise

Unless your copy is missing a scene, there is a sex scene. Their first time together in the tent.

well let's not exaggerate this to the extreme or anything. yes there is a sex scene, no you don't see anything, no it doesn't last that long. that's that.

Well, that wasn't homophobic or anything.

Like Sussudio said, they don't show anything and it's not nearly as gratuitous as most straight sex scenes.
