I've never finished watching the series but from what I did see it was amazing and brutal as hell. The story starts off kind of slow but builds nicely. I only saw the first 6 episodes and thought no more were ever made but apparently there were. I'm definitely buying this when it drops.

I bought this yesterday from Amazon. I'm not really into anime but I thoroughly enjoyed Samurai 7 and Vexille. I'm all for Samurai's chopping limbs off; I hope this will be another anime I can like.

I will say one thing about it though it does use hip-hop music but somehow it just doesn't feel annoying and I'm not even a person who listens to hip-hop music or a fan of it at that same goes for that Samurai Champloo(which is not on Blu-ray yet and is not as violent). Afro Samurai is more of a watching a person's head being cut off kind of brutal violence or flying bloody limbs that got cut off from the body.

What the hell is this? Japanese only gets DD 2.0 while English gets TrueHD 5.1? If any track should get the TrueHD 5.1 treatment, it's the Japanese track, which is the original audio track!

No sale for me, for the same reason I'm boycotting the DBZ movies on BD!

It seems like this is very common in America. Like look at even Funimation and ADV Films dvds there has been plenty of times on dvd where the English dub gets a 5.1 Dolby Digital sound while the original Japanese is usually(and very rarely gets a 5.1 treatment). However with Geneon once in awhile they will give the original Japanese a DTS audio and the English dub just a 5.1 Dolby Digital like for instance my copy of Appleseed dvd is a great example of that method but however Geneon U.S.A. has given Hellsing Ultimate 5.1 Dolby Digital and a 5.1 DTS audio and the original Japanese just a 5.1 Dolby Digital, same goes for Ergo Proxy. So to me it just seems they use the same method on Blu-ray. It makes it hard to know which titles they will give a better treatment with the Japanese dub or at least an equilvalent treatment as the English dub.

I'm up to episode 6 right now and I'm really loving it. The animation looks beautiful, the story is good too. I'm glad I picked it up.

I have mixed feelings about this title.

After watching the whole thing I feel that it was really interesting, but it ends abrubtly. The box says its the complete series, but we don't even get to see the main match between the 2 great samurai warriors.

Did this show get cancelled mid way through its run or something?

I kind of wish I could get my money back on it because 12 episodes of an incomplete story just isn't worth what their charging for it.

I'm still waiting for my copy. I love all kinds of samurai anime (Champloo, Rurouni Kenshin, S7) so hopefully I'll like this

I started watching this yesterday I'm up to episode 5 or 6.... man is this SLOOOOW.

It seems good but I keep falling asleep. There is too many quiet moments for me. For example... a guy looking outside the doorway while the only audio is the sound of bugs and crickets for 5-10 seconds at a time that seem to drag on! Several moments of inner monologue and moments of still images with noting going on and it seems to jump from 1 day to another off into the future... To be honest I'm lost!!! yet IDK if I wanna start over.

The fights so far and 2 hits at most then done. Not like Samurai 7, Afro Samurai, Samurai Champloo or Samurai X where you get amazing visual cinematic artwork... Its more of a "slice" your dead.
Its got a great audio track but its pointless I hear nothing coming from most of the speakers because its mostly talking and no action. There are moments where the artwork was done with added grain I also find annoying... IDK this series isn't doing it for me yet but I will still finish it.

You haven't watched a lot of anime have you? Most anime series don't go as far into the series as the manga version or sometimes the manga has an alternative ending to the story. OVAs are probably the worst for things like this because most OVAs are only approximately 1-6 episodes long and or more like a demo to the manga. Even Ar tonelico OVA is only a 25 minute OVA and well for 25 minutes how much of the story can you really fit in 25 minutes for an OVA that is based off a JRPG videogame?

Recieved mine today.
Just had a quick look at it and it looked really grainy, i actually dont mind a little grain in most cases, but this looked a little too over the top, guess im just used to animes looking clean.

I think its only during "flash back" moments or "memory" segments.

yeah a lot of director's do that with memory flashback scenes but also grain is also used a lot in series like this with a more violent tone

Yeh i noticed that after watching more, seems the whole first episode was a flash back lol.
Looks very slick, i love the animation style in this. Put in Samurai 7 after this and my god that looks terrible.

Wait Samurai 7 looked worse then Shigurui: Death Frenzy? I was considering getting Samurai 7...
