Default Should I expect more of a resolution from this e-tailer?

So January 8 of this year, I ordered a Pio 1018 (new) from Amazon.com. I was really stoked as this was to be my first venture into High Def sound. They said it would take up to six weeks to get it from the seller they were working with. No prob...gives me some time to boost my $$ account. Well, fast forward to yesterday, 2/24, and I had not heard from them with delivery due on 2/25. I got a little worried and was fearful that they would have to delay it.

I checked the email when I got home from work last night and got a letter from Amazon saying that they would not be able to send the receiver AT ALL !! They said it was unavailable from that seller, etc., etc., and apologized both for the unavailability and the length of time it took to reach their decision.

But Amazon did say I could feel free to choose from their other sellers and they do have the Pio 1018 being sold through their site....for more than $100 more than what I was to pay for the one I ordered

So my P.O.V. is that the wind has enitirely been knocked out of my sails. I was really excited that this was to be the week I start building my sound system. And after more than 6 weeks of waiting, is this really the best I can expect? I know it is not their fault although I would think that they might have sent me a heads-up about the situation a LONG TIME AGO....

Seems like that they could work with a long time customer and work with me on that more than $100 price difference instead of waiting till the eleventh hour and saying what amounts to: "meh, sorry 'bout that"

So what do you think? Should I even try to see if they would get me this receiver for the price that I agreed to last January? And how would I do that? But then what's to say that I would not have to again wait another 6+ weeks just to be told that they cannot deliver....

I have never had any real problems with Amazon before and don't see this as being completely their fault. I do resent having to wait this long however and pending how this pans out, may parts ways ....

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.....

I bet if you complained enough they'd AT LEAST give you some credit.

Well, I sent them an email...we'll see what happens. I am feeling that there is not much they can do and do not see it as being their fault. But I wish they would had have written me about it as soon as they knew (I can't believe that they just found out yesterday). The Pio 1018 is almost next to impossible to find now..

oh well, live and learn

EDIT: that was quick...got an email from Amazon reminding me that they had already sent me a email concerning this, and that they're sorry and that they value my business, hope to see you soon, etc.

Guess that's it, then

Was this from Amazon or from the Amazon Marketplace?

Try this link and select the "Phone" tab for Amazon's call back service. If you select "right now" be ready to pick up the phone.. They are that quick.

EDIT: It is my opinion that if you really want a resolution, don't mess around with email. Get on the phone.

Yeah...you need to talk to them...use the call-back option..they are good at getting things going right away.

thanks for the feedback...I never even considered calling them (or having them call me) and I agree, that would be a more logical approach than e-mail. Right now, I have been too busy trying to find a receiver to take the place of the 1018. Researching the Pio vsx-01 vs vsx-03 at the moment....

on another note, sorry to see jkwest was banned. I found a lot of his posts to have been helpful to me.

thanks everyone

It's much easier to shoot someone down over an email compared to on the phone. Give them a call, if they don't budge just keep asking for a supervisor ect ect. Be stern, but don't be rude.
