Default 'My Bloody Valentine' to Cut Up Blu-ray this May

The horror remake 'My Bloody Valentine' is chopping its way to Blu-ray, with Lionsgate alerting retailers to a late-May Blu-ray arrival for the slasher remake.

An update of the 1981 cult fave, 'My Bloody Valentine' earned nearly $50 million during its theatrical release earlier this year, thanks in large part to a hit run in 3-D theaters. Lionsgate has told retailers to expect a May 26 Blu-ray arrival for the film, day-and-date with the standard DVD.

There's no word yet on tech specs or supplements, or whether the studio will be presenting the film in a 3-D version. We expect more details in the days ahead, so stay tuned.

no word on a unrated cut? I read in Fango that like the original it had probs with the MPAA, just not as severe as the first film.

don't hold your breath - the reinstated gore footage with all it's print imperfections wouldn't look that grand in hidef.

I wouldn't be surprised if the original is releasedon Blu on the same day as the remake. Hopefully the remake has 3D.

I watched the movie in Theatre in 3d. It was amazing. Is it possible to produce this same type of 3d utilizing Blu and HDTV's?

I really hope it makes it's way to Blu-ray in all it's 3D glory. I mean, it's part of the title. Unless they're just going to call it My Bloody Valentine (2009).

I really think the 3D gimmick is what sold me on the film. It wasn't horrible otherwise, but some of the effects used in the movie definitely won't translate well without the 3D.

Really injoyed this one. Without Jensen Akles and Tom Atkins it would have been some stupid 3D Horror movie. Sweet 2009 is the year of the 3D horror movie. Anyway picking this up and hoping for the Original on blu.

the 3-d version was superb. More
[Show spoiler] eyeball-gags
than a Fulci film and the 3-d kills were done perfectly. The camp was perfect and I agree with the guy above - Tom Atkins was awesome!

The red and blue 3d will not do this film justice. REAL-D or bust!

To be honest here, I really wanted to see this movie in the theaters in 3-D. Unfortunately, no theaters in my area were showing it in 3-D so I didn't go and see it under my own personal protest. So, hopefully, this will be a 3-D release so I'll be able to experience it like it was "supposed" to be.

The poster for this movie has got to be the worst in horror movies since Scream started the floatting head trend.

I'm waiting for the Amazon preorder to go up so I can order this along with True Romance (also coming out that day) and qualify for the free shipping. May is going to be an expensive month, and the announcements keep rolling in.

Day one buy for me. The best remake of a horror film, in my opinion. It was also the best 3D experience I had watching a film outside of the Imax films like Deep Sea 3D and Grand Canyon. The 3D will look like shit at home on Blu though. Just watch Journey To the Center Of the Earth and you'll see what I mean. TVs aren't capable of handling 3D the way it's done in theaters. I guess we''ll have to wait at least another 5-10 years before we can enjoy it at home...

this movie was really cool, i will definately pick it up. I think people expect some amazing horror movie when they are walking in to the theater but its just a bloody romp that shouldn't taken seriously. The 3D awesome, i kept the RealD glasses i hope the 3d will work with that and not use those crappy red and blue paper glasses.

Not sure if its a setting on my TV but I couldn't go past 10 mins in 3D. Started getting headache. Was really blurry imo.
