The Simpsons renewed for two more seasons - Blu-ray Forum

I used to watch this. I might catch one every once in a great while. There's even more on the way:

Fox has ordered two additional seasons of "The Simpsons," which will bring the longest-running series in primetime television history through its 22nd season. The 44-episode pickup ensures the series will reach an astounding 493 episodes. "The Simpsons" airs Sundays (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on Fox.

Since its debut on January 14, 1990, "The Simpsons" immediately struck a chord with viewers across the country as it poked fun of itself and everything in its wake. With its subversive humor and delightful wit, the series has made an indelible imprint on American pop culture and has become one of television's most iconic families.

"Best. 20 Years. Ever.," a year-long global celebration honoring all things "The Simpsons," launched in January 2009 and will culminate on January 14, 2010, the 20th anniversary of the series' debut.

Havent been watching new seasons lately...
I do remember loving the show when i was younger..

The Simpsons is classic but it has gotten worst lately but I watch it once in a while and I still enjoy it. I'm looking forward to the DVD releases of the newer seasons because I missed most of the episodes and really want to see what I missed.

Am I the only one who thinks they should do 500 episodes? Not because I'm a fan but they're SO close.

How close are they. Close enough to where they can finally put it down at the 500th episode or will the 2 new seasons take it beyond that point?

Like others here I catch it one in while, but it's no where near as good as it used to be.

After these 2 seasons it will be 7 away from 500.

Don't worry, they said there would be two more seasons but nobody said these would be the last ones. I'm sure there will be another season after that and episode 500 will certainly be a special one ...

Yeah they're almost always renewed for 2 seasons at a time. I think the last time there was the big dispute over saleries was the last time they were only picked up for 1 year instead of 2.
Heck, I haven't even watched them in like 10 years, but it's nice to know there's one "good" show on FOX. (Oh OK theres Family Guy, Fringe, and maybe Dollhouse)

Ended for me a while ago. Loved them as a kid though.

The style of humor has changed over the years. The first ten years of the show was a witty and slightly irreverent take on the family sitcom. The last ten years have focused more on physical comedy and random jokes. I do think this show is nowhere near the end of its run. The merchandising is still lucrative and it gets decent ratings.
