How to get online with PS3?

I'm techno-ignorant, so excuse what is probably a few idiotic questions. I have a 2Wire Home Portal 1000SW router and can't get my PS3 online with it. Everything seems fine until the PS3 starts to search for IP address, then it says it can't find it. Is my router not suitable for this sort of thing or is there something i'm not doing to my PS3? Sorry this is so vague, maybe someone could point me to a step by step tutorial somewhere online if you're stumped by my horrible grasp of this technology.

p.s. The only reason i want this is so i can subscribe to MLB.net and watch every single Cardinal game on my big screen via the interlink. Will this work? Is anyone doing the same thing?

how are you trying to connect the PS3??? wirelessly or wired via ethernet ?

The Web browser on the PS3 does not support the media player MLB.tv uses online. I have tried. Unless thats ben changed recently. It dose not work

Yea Just tried the mlb tv on my ps3

No luck

Also, If you live in St.Louis, Due to black out restrictions, you probably wont get to watch the cards games live. Check the site and see your zip code restrictions

LOL!! If i lived in st.Louis then i wouldn't need this package. I'd get every game on fox sports midwest. Living in texas and dealing with blackouts is the reason i want to get MLBtv. Pro baseball really needs to get their s@it together and allow fans to see their teams regardless of where they live. Ridiculous way to promote your sport, if you ask me.
I don't really understand why the PS3's browser wouldn't support it though. I mean don't we have the latest and greatest in our PS3? Any way to get a different browser on there that would support it.

Btw, i figured out how to get online. I was just missing the serial number from my router.

the browser dosent support Windows media player playback i believe. Ive tried alot of websites that run off it. such as Nasa tv. and it dosent do anything.

well I lived in Va and for about a Year I couldnt watch any Nationals games becuase I didnt have Masn at the time, and MLB.com blacked them out when they were live.

I dont know that there is away yet to get another browser that would support it.

It well play certain mlb.com videos but when it comes to actually opening up the mlb.tv media player to play games, It dosent work
