Pixar Blu-Ray Cars Audio Defect? - Blu-ray Forum

In the wheel well scene there is a loud snap right after lightning asks sally if it was a corvette she fell inlove with. It only does it in PCM 5.1 not the regular 5.1. Does anybody else hear it? Tried 3 different blurays and it still does it.

I don't have Cars on BD, but I'm guessing the sound is supposed to be there as PCM is an uncompressed audio track which is going to reveal more sounds in the audio. Reg Dolby digital is compressed and some sounds from the audio track are hidden as a result.

Then maybe there is a problem with your player or receiver instead of the 3 different disc?

Because it looks like you're the only one having this problem.

Did you get all 3 copies from the same place? If so, maybe they got in a batch of defective disc (a rare occurrence, but it does happen.) Try taking it to a different retailer and swapping it.

Or, for that matter, take your Cars BD to a completely different, known-good setup, such as at a local audio/video store, and ask them to play it (with the same audio track) as you do at home. If the sound is there, then you know it's a disc problem.

Two were from same place and one was from a rental place

I just got the 2011 re-release, and I have the exact same problem. So I doubt that we are the only two person that got a defective player or sound system. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have the original release that also has this defect. Its in the source. Don't lose sleep over this tiny soundtrack defect. I also got the re-release. I have not had time to watch it yet but it sounds like some of the discs are the same pressing as the original disc. Some claim that the newer discs default to LPCM if your hardware is capable, but there is no final word yet.
