Hi, just for couriosity, when you turn up the volume with no source playing, do you hear some hum noise with the volume at 0 or +1 etc.?(relative volume)
I hear it in mine, it is normal to hear noise at this volume level and why?

can honestly say no...i hear no buzzing noise when at 0 volume. sounds like you might possibly have a ground loop

Turning my 606 to max there is no hum , just a very very low pink noise.
A "Hum" sounds to me like a 60 hertz ac pick up

Another question, how can I find the wire that cause that problem?

Thank's a lot to every body. I need to resolve the problem. My receiver at some times cuts and I can't use it. I unplugged and wait some couple of hours then I can use it again. Maybe the problem is a wire that cause the pink noise.

Sounds to me like the power supply in your Onkyo unit might have a problem. The humming noise could be a grounding issue, so I would say then that you should look into the circuit it is plugged into, other components that might be grounded to a different circuit, etc. However since you say the receiver seems to be shutting down and needs time to "cool off" before you can use it again, I'd say it needs repair.

i would also check all audio and power cabels to make sure theyre seperate.

Sounds like a possible grounding problem. Never noticed it on mine.

I might be able to help, I had that hum with my 605. I have to go search for a link though, be right back.


In the meantime, do you have cable TV? If so, could you unplug the incoming cable tv line from your cable box and see if the hum goes away?

I have all my equipment connected to a Triplite Battery Backup from Costco. I can use the receiver to play my PS3 at very low volume, but seriously, this problem its make me crazy. Yesterday I saw The Incredible Hulk at -10 or -8(relative), 15 minutes aprox. later I want to play with my kids and the receiver begins to shut off.

Me again, I remove the antenna cable from the cable tv and the noise persist.

A ground loop isolator should work. You can find them on any of the A/V websites or even Amazon, for about $15-$20, give or take.
