No because I always get to a movie 45 minutes to an hour early. If I know it is going to be a Blockbuster, I buy the tickets early. One thing that ticks me off is when people get to the theatre 2 mins before the movie starts and gets upset that they can't find two seats together, so they stand in fron of me and block the screen during the previews. we are all adults here.. Get a watch and lear how to tell time!!

Sorry about the rant, I saw an opportunity and I took it.

never happened to me

like previous poster, i usually buy my tickets online early to make sure i get a ticket. not all the time though, like hancock
but i always get there atleast 45minutes early if i dont have a ticket ordered

i usually get there 30min - 1.5hours early anyway, depending on how big the movie is (tdk/transformers being an example)

me and my cousin sat in the theater room for an hour before transformers started (7 for an 8oclock preview show the night before it opened)

My feelings, exactly! I always have to be in the theater at least 30 minutes before the start of the show. I MUST get my center/mid-screen height seat, or I'm not going to enjoy the movie.

The Day After Tomorrow.

I made the mistake of going to see it at the theater on Memorial Day, and every showing for the entire day was sold out. So I saw the movie the very next day.

+1. If it's gonna be a huge blockbuster movie we get there atleast an hour early or maybe even earlier (sometimes 2 hours if there are gonna be like 4 of us). On alot of them I buy the tickets days in advance so we don't have to worry about it selling out or getting in line. It drives me nuts when a group of like 5-10 peeps show up right before the movie starts and look around forever for seats and have a look on their faces like they can't believe there are no seats.

As others have mentioned I purchase my tickets online and my wife makes sure we are there at least 45 minutes before the start to get good seats.

Nope.

But then again, I rarely go to the movies, and even if I do it's after it's second week during a Wednesday or Thursday {less of a crowd}

only once. Please don't laugh. I went to see "The Wilderness Family" and it was sold out. We watched King Kong instead. That was 1976.

June 25th for me. Remember going to work and having bought tickets that morning, then at lunch another guy I worked with (in his 30's) was telling us how he bought his Batman tickets already haha. For the midnight screening that I got tickets for, we got there at 10:30 and got second row! IMAX! Neck hurts!

Some reason despite buying tickets online (and for TDK, well in advance), last night when I went to buy Watchmen in IMAX tickets I was surprised that it was sold out, yet I should have known better.

This whole thread should be sponsored by MovieTickets.com, that site is really really handy! If they could get the previously discussed reserved seating in place, that'd be dynamite. Tomorrow I have tickets for Watchmen at 10:00pm but I have no idea how the crowds going to be, I'm expecting big but not Dark Knight-big.

300.

We got there at 7:00 for a 7:45 showing and it was already sold out. Had to sit in the theatre lobby for 3 and half hours and wait for the 10:30 show. It sucked so these days, I usually pre-buy my tixs to guarantee me a spot

Oh yeah definitely won't be TDK-big, but that's the last time I've had to line up for a new release so I guess it's easy to compare. I know the theatre I'm going to, everyone is going to just break out laughing at blue schlong. As lame as it was at times, Spiderman 3 really would have benefited from a silent crowd experience without people trying to be funny.

Haha coincidently with Watchmen coming out this weekend, we went to see it at 6:30pm in a relatively small town (Guelph ON, where we went to school) and got our tickets and everything at 6pm, got into the theatre and the five of us had to sit in different sections of the theatre. I had a rather large dude next to me taking up like 20% of my seat, it was awkward.

Ya, I pre-bought my Watchmen ticket to be safe. Funny story to about 300 is that I had two people sitting next to me that were always on their cell phone (very annoying ) and had enough food to feed a group of ten yet there was only only two of them (it smelled really bad, combo of pizza hut, popcorn, nachos, coke and chocalate all don't mix). Plus, I didn't like the movie at all. I consider it to be my worst movie experience ever and now, always go to afternoon or early evening showing just to avoid the rush and people who don't know how to be polite during a film.

My local theaters don't have online ticket ordering so I always make sure to buy tickets a couple hours in advance if I think it's going to sell out. It seems like the last couple years blockbuster movies have been selling out less though. I went to Dark Knight the Sunday afternoon of opening weekend and the theater was only about 90% full because it was also showing on 2 other screens. Regardless, I think the last movie I wanted to see and it was sold out was the first Harry Potter movie. That was Thanksgiving night though, and we were able to get tickets to the next show.
