i'll start by saying I dont know much about computers. To jump online with mine i went to network settings and scanned for available networks. I selected mine and entered the WEP code and was online. My buddy has a mac, and he says that it has an internal wireless router. When he tries to connect the same way i did, the PS3 shows no available netwoks. Whats it take for him to get online? Thanks.

To my knowledge, there's no macs on the market that have a built in router, meaning it doesn't send out a wifi signal like a traditional router, but it does have the receiver part that can pick up wifi without any adapters (like most PCs need). So, your friend needs a router, either an offical Apple brand one (I personally use an Airport Express) or whatever brand you like.

I think your friend is a bit confused about what the mac does with it's "internal wireless router". While it does have a feature like this, it isn't used for hooking up other systems to the internet, but instead for connecting two machines that aren't on a LAN but are in close vicinity. To see this feature, and maybe check what the PS3 can do with it, you can go to "create" network under the wireless settings on your mac and the PS3 should be able to check see it. This is great for file sharing (really quick) and you can also chat between 2 macs using the Bonjoure function of iChat. Besides that, though, I don't think the function serves much purpose.

Thanks for the info. I'll tell him to check out media link. I know he wants to be able to do all the stuff that he's seen me do on mine (music, movies, pictures from my computer), but I have never used a mac before, and don't know what im doing with it. Right now he just plays games on it (offline) and does'nt know how sweet the system really is. Thanks again.
