I have a 37 inch LCD 720p Sanyo and Love the picture with Blu-Ray.

Sure a 1080p will look even better,but my jaw hit the floor I was stunned when I saw my first Blu-Ray Movie at 720p on my 37inch Sanyo.

Compared to upconvert and/or standard def, 720p is an amazing step up.
