Japan Atelier Rorona

Quote:
The latest issue of Japanese gaming mag Dengeki has unveiled a new Japanese RPG, exclusive to the PS3. Called Atelier Rorona, it's the first next gen entry into the popular Atelier franchise. While details on the title are slim at the moment, it retains the franchise's emphasis on crafting and synthesizing

More details are set to come out later this month on March 27, again in the Dengeki PlayStation magazine.

This opens an interesting question as to whether Rorona developer Gust's other popular RPG franchises, Ar Tonelico and Mana Khala, will also be headed to the PS3 shortly.
( they got their info from Dengeki so......)

Anybody heard of this rpg before? first time im hearing about this franchise.

Didn't wanna post it in case it was a 2ch joke, but let's go with it, it's a pretty popular and somewhat niche JRPG series in Japan from a popular developer, this is especially good news for PS3 fans as Gust are not known for high budget titles and a lot of people were wondering if their games were going to the Wii.

Ar tonelico and Mana on PS3 also?? Me really happy now but to many good RPGs coming out to PS3 its just to much to take in.

But I guess thats not such a bad thing especially if there is going to be Ar tonelico and the other titles from Gust on PS3.

It might be more well known by Mana Khemia, the series' actual name. Anyway, I'm excited about Atelier Rorona; Gust's games are typically relatively low budget, but they're pretty much always very good.

More details coming from the next Dengeki Playstation, the same issue that's going to reveal info on Ys I & II, as well as Ys 7. All of a sudden, jrpgs.

I forget, can we post famitsu scans here?

It amazes me people act surprised about this. The JRPG situation has largely been misinterpreted by the general public. The problem wasn't Sony losing JRPGs, it's that they were still all going to the PS2 and PSP.

The story continually being concocted about Sony losing its RPG status was by people who were not really paying attention.

As time goes on more and more will come to the PS3.

You can, but we prefer direct feed links and scans should be replaced with direct feed ASAP.

Linking to scans is not a problem, but again, direct feed is preferred. Covers and back covers are allowed though.

Its not really about being surprised by this kind of news because well its Japan and Sony is made in Japan so of course they will get great JRPGs on their consoles including the PS3. But the thing is if we really are getting JRPGs such as Atelier and who knows maybe even other titles from Gust like Ar tonelico or Mana then that just means there will be no more complaints on the lack of JRPGs on the PS3 and actually have a variety to choose from besides like Eternal Sonata, Disgaea 3, Cross Edge, and Enchanted Arms(and some that haven't come to America like Record of Agarest War and Tears to Tiara). I am in no way not saying I don't enjoy those titles already available on the PS3 because I do enjoy those titles but you still feel like we need more on the PS3 to keep us occupied.

Its the same thing as the Mana Khemia thats on the PS2 that came out last year but with new enemies, multiplayer mode, etc. If you have the PS2 version there really isn't to much of a difference and probably will barely notice to much of a difference but if you don't have the PS2 version then I say its a good purchase

Im not sure its called Mana Khemia: Student Alliance

"The 4th entry in the RPG series, Mana Khemia is different from the previous Atelier Iris games. Mana Khemia is a campus sim style RPG, where you can interact with classmates and professors to complete academic quests. You play as Vayne Aurelius, a novice alchemist who was invited to attend Al - Revis Academy. At the academy, Vayne will meet human and not so human alchemists, and together you will solve the mysteries of alchemy."

So is it the same?

Yup word by word exact. This PSP version is kind of like how Namco Bandai did with Eternal Sonata on the PS3 just tweaked it up a bit. Here is my source straight from Nis of America themselves http://nisamerica.com/news/20090310.html

Hopefully it's in a 2D handdrawn style like all the other games. Gust really doesn't have the resources to pull off a 3D RPG powerhouse anyway.

Yeah 2D sprites is the way to go but I also want to see more animated cutscenes as well.

I'm just excited to see [B]ANY[B] RPG come to PS3. You have to admit there hasn't been much good in it's what 2 1/2 years of exisitance.

Folklore and Valkarie Chronicles (sp?) are about the only two I can think of...outside of numerous Final Fantasy trailers.
