What's this guy using for his/her audio system?

On a side note, should i get these equipments seperately to get better quality? I've only willing to spend 3000 max to spend on equipment. I'm a complete newbie too.

Things i'll need/want.

amplifier
subwoofer
front and left speaker
centre
pair of surround speakers
receiver..

Basically, the whole thing =/

I've heard if you buy from the same company, it usually "syncs" better to make it more smooth for audio. Is this true?
