Lately I've been noticing what appears to be banding, but i could be mistaken on my LC42D64U Aquos. It has never appeared before but the other night when I was watching the Die Another Day blu, the opening surf sequence i noticed what looked like slight banding, and it figures that my warranty has expired when this happens. My question is if anyone else has sent there Aquos for repair without the warranty and how much it cost to have it fixed, or if Sharp fixes this obviously well known problem with there sets regardless of warranty? any help would be appreciated thanks!

hey hitechiowa. I actually had a 42 " sharp 1080p t.v. and i had it for about 8 months before I noticed major banding on mine. After alot of research, I learned that the banding is very common on sharps. Also that it was a factory mistake when the screens were being made. So the banding is marked into the screen permanately. The only way to fix it is to replace the panel. Lucky for me my warranty was 5 years, but it took almost 2 months of hell trying to get it fixed. They actually let me replace it instead because it would have cost more to fix it. I went with a panny plasma. Also i learned that the banding is there from the start, even if you haven't noticed it until now, it has always been there. When I finally figured out what was going on with my t.v. I couldn't beleive how bad it actually was and how it took me so long to figure out it was like that. Anyways if you can get a gray screen up, and turn the brightness all the way down and the contrast all the way up , you will be able to see how bad it actually is and maybe take some pictures. I hope that some of this will help you to get it fixed. I feel your pain. Good Luck.
